​​​​​​DESCRIPTION

The event entitled IV Conference on Knowledge, Innovation and Sustainability in the context of National and International Science, Technology and Innovation (ST&I) aims to discuss the role of knowledge, innovation and sustainability in the context of national and international ST&I, considering the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The event will feature national and international speakers discussing topics such as: Science, Technology and Innovation Parks; Entrepreneurial Ecosystems; Sustainable Entrepreneurship; Public Policy Management for Smart Cities; Implementing Technology for Sustainability; and Social Innovation. The IV Conference will take place in the Pharmacy Auditorium on the Univali Campus in Itajaí. The event has the support of the Santa Catarina Research and Innovation Foundation (FAPESC).

Two consortia will be developed, one for a doctorate and the other for a master's degree. Postgraduate students from programs in administration, public policy, tourism and related areas will submit their thesis and dissertation projects to be assessed by a panel of two professors chosen by the event's organizing committee.

Day 1 – 10/07/2024

1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. - Doctoral and Master's Consortium (Remote)

7:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. - Round Table 1 - Science, Technology and Innovation Parks: Development possibilities and future trends (In person/Remote)

Discussing Science, Technology and Innovation Parks as an important tool to show the national panorama of innovation environments, Innovation Centers and technology-based actions in the country. There is great potential in Brazil for the convergence of projects and initiatives, with technology parks as an inducer of science, technology and innovation in applications for common and collective challenges faced by the population, industry and public management itself.

Day 2 – 10/08/2024

1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. - Round Table 2 - Sustainability in the Development of Entrepreneurial Ecosystems (In-Person/Remote)

Sustainable entrepreneurship is a business practice that seeks to integrate environmental, social and economic sustainability into the development of a company. It is important that entrepreneurs seek to create businesses that are ecologically responsible, socially just and economically viable. The panel will discuss the importance of sustainable entrepreneurship and how to create a responsible business with the environment in mind.

3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. - Round Table 3 - Technology and Sustainability: Intelligent Solutions to Socio-environmental Challenges (In-Person/Remote)

Provide an overview of how technology is being used to promote sustainability. Discuss technology-based solutions that aim to reduce environmental impacts, improve resource efficiency and support sustainable business practices. Explore how technology can positively impact local communities and economies by fostering sustainable economic development.

7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. - Round Table 4 - Port Management as a Development Driver (In-Person/Remote)

Identifying and proposing ways to address the challenges facing port management in terms of absorbing new knowledge and innovation. The aim of this round table is to debate the challenges of adopting technology and innovation in the development of ports, promoting logistical efficiency and mobility. To provide an environment for discussion and the exchange of experiences, enabling participants to get involved in the problem of port management, recognizing it as an inducer of local, national and international development.

Day 3 – 10/09/2024

8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. - Round Table 5 - Social Innovation: Turning Ideas into Action (In-Person/Remote)

Open space for dialog and collaboration dedicated to exploring how new ideas, practices and technologies are being applied to solve complex social challenges. The roundtable aims to discuss innovative initiatives that not only promote sustainable development and social inclusion, but also inspire the creation of effective and scalable solutions. Through constructive debates and practical examples, the roundtable seeks to catalyze a movement of positive transformation, where creativity and collaboration meet to shape a fairer and more equitable future.

1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. - Round Table 6 - Managing public policies for smart cities (In person/Remote)

Discussing how to use technology to improve the lives of inhabitants and promote more sustainable, safe and efficient cities is an extremely relevant topic in the context of the SDGs. Instigate participants with the problems faced in managing public policies for smart cities.

RULES FOR REGISTRATION AND CERTIFICATION

The rules below will apply to all events (except in extraordinary cases).

1 – REGISTRATION EXTENSION: The organization reserves the right to extend registrations if vacancies are available and may also change the event date due to unexpected reasons beyond control, with a new date to be defined by the organization and communicated to registrants via email. In this case, if the registrant cannot participate in the activities on the new date, they must immediately notify the event organization via email (icsis@univali.br), and may be fully refunded as described in item 4.
2 – REGISTRATION CANCELLATION/WITHDRAWAL: The registrant may request registration cancellation via email, with the right to a refund of: a) 100% of the amount paid, if done up to 7 business days before the event start date, b) 80% of the registration fee, if done between 6 days and 1 day before the event.
 2.1 – The registrant who does not communicate their withdrawal and/or does not request the registration cancellation within the aforementioned period WILL NOT be entitled to a refund and assumes the obligation to pay the full amount specified at the time of registration.
2.2 – There is no possibility of deferring registration in the contracted event.
3 – EVENT CANCELLATION: If the ideal number of registered participants is not achieved or if any unexpected reasons beyond control occur preventing the event from taking place, it will be CANCELED. Registrants will be notified by the email provided at the time of registration, and a full refund will be issued according to item 4.
4 – REFUND: Refunds will only be granted to registrants in the cases outlined in items 1, 2, and 3.
4.1 –Payments via bank slip: Refunds will be processed within 30 business days after the registrant provides their bank and identification details, for example CPF – the Brazilian Individual Taxpayer Registry, via email to the event organization (
icsis@univali.br)
4.2 – Payments via undergraduate/graduate tuition: Refunds may be issued as tuition credit or via bank deposit. Tuition credit is processed within 30 business days, and the registrant must email their Univali student/user code and full name for processing. Refunds via bank deposit are processed within 30 business days after payment of the registration fee, upon sending bank details, CPF, and proof of payment via email to the organization (if bank clearance has not yet been made).
4.3 – Payments via credit card: Refund timing is subject to the credit card issuer's policy. The registrant must formally request cancellation via email to the organization. The refund will be credited to the client's credit card statement by the card issuer.
5 – CERTIFICATION: The registrant who attends the scheduled activities at the event will be entitled to a Certificate. Payment of the event registration fee alone does not entitle one to receive a participation certificate.
5.1 Attendance confirmation: The registrant must follow the attendance confirmation procedure at the event and/or its activities (barcode reader, attendance lists, or any other method adopted by the event organization), as without confirmation, the organization reserves the right not to issue the participation certificate.
5.2 – Online certificates: The online certificate will be available to participants within 60 days after the event end date, with frequency confirmation being the responsibility of the activity organizers. Participants will be notified via email with instructions for printing. Registrants can access their certificates on the website 
www.univali.br/elis​.
5.3 – Authors/presenters certificate: The event coordination may issue a distinguished certification for authors and presenters. These certificates will only be provided to individuals who make in person presentation (orally, poster, or as designated by the event). Any other author of the study will receive certification either as author or co-author.
By completing the registration process, the registrant affirms acceptance of all terms and is aware of the information and conditions stipulated by the event coordination.​
